About Us
for the love of pete! celebrates pets and their people in a warm, customer focused atmosphere.
for the love of pete! in Richmond, Va. at "The Avenues on Libbie and Grove" opened in the fall of 2003. Inspired by their beloved rescued pets, the owners, Maureen and John Mulligan, hope to enhance the lives of pets and the people who love them. To that end, a portion off all sales are donated to local area animal charities and rescue groups.
Maureen and John moved to Richmond Va in the summer of 2004 with three rescued cocker spaniels, Tiffany, Scooter, and Rudy. Although they are now in doggie heaven, Maureen and John have rescued two more dogs, Muffin and Bucky.
We carry our own line of collars, leashes and harnesses, as well as treats, beds for dogs of all sizes, toys, bowls, feeders, artwork, unique handcrafted items made by local artisans and more. Stop in to order custom digital portraits and notecards created from photos of your pets. Visit our topiary garden and ask about your favorite breeds. Most of the antiques used for displays in the store to create a welcoming atmosphere are for sale. New items arrive daily so our web site has only a fraction of the items we have in the store. We hope you have a chance to visit soon!
For the love of pete! has been featured in a number of magazines, including Richmond's West End's Best Magazine, Boomer, and The Daily Kibble. For the love of pete! was also recognized as one of the best southern pet boutiques by Southern Living Magazine and was voted "best of Virginia 2012" By Virginia Living.
